Frequently Asked Questions
What does the commissioning process involve?
Commissioning includes factory inspection against specification, engine dealer commissioning (hour-zero service), sea trials with performance verification, safety equipment installation, and documentation assembly. We manage the complete process from builder sign-off to yacht delivery.
How long does delivery typically take from factory to yacht?
European deliveries by road take 5–10 business days depending on distance. International container shipping takes 4–8 weeks. Air freight is available for emergency replacements with 3–7 day transit. We coordinate customs clearance at destination.
Do you attend the factory inspection in person?
Yes, for tenders above 5m or high-value custom builds, we attend factory inspections in person. For standard production tenders, we manage the inspection remotely with builder photography and video walk-through against punch list.
What documentation is provided at handover?
Handover documentation includes builder certificate, CE declaration of conformity, engine warranty card, service manual, parts list, safety equipment certificates, and flag-state compliance paperwork. All documents are provided in digital and hard copy.
Can you coordinate with my yard for davit installation?
Yes. We work directly with your yacht's shipyard or refit facility to coordinate davit compatibility, lifting slings, deployment procedures, and deck modifications if required. Technical drawings are shared ahead of delivery.
Do you provide crew training?
Yes. We arrange crew familiarisation sessions covering engine operation, safety procedures, launch/recovery, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting. Training can be conducted yacht-side or at the delivery marina.
What happens if issues are found during sea trials?
Any defects or performance shortfalls are recorded on a punch list and returned to the builder for rectification before final acceptance. We do not release payment milestones until all items are resolved to specification.
Can you manage the full process from order to delivery?
Yes. Our project management service covers specification, builder selection, contract negotiation, milestone payments, factory visits, commissioning, transport, and yacht-side handover. Single point of contact from start to finish.
