Frequently Asked Questions
RÄVIK Adventure vs RÄVIK Ultimate vs RÄVIK Explore — which is right for a superyacht?
All three share the same 11 kW peak power and Flex XR4 battery, so the difference is ride character, not motor. The Explore (121 L, 21 kg, 40 km/h, 60 min) is the beginner-and-family board — maximum float, longest ride time. The Adventure (71 L, 23 kg, 50 km/h, 45 min) is the do-it-all choice — enough volume for newcomers, enough pace for confident riders. The Ultimate (51 L, 16 kg, 55 km/h, 35 min) is the flagship: lightest, fastest, built for experienced riders pushing a dual-channel hull. For most 30–50 m yachts we recommend the Adventure as the single-board answer, and pair it with an Explore only if the guest programme leans heavily towards beginners.
How does the RÄVIK Adventure differ from the Awake VINGA eFoil?
The RÄVIK is a jetboard — it rides on the water's surface with a jet drive underneath, and feels closest to motorised surfing. The VINGA is an eFoil, with a hydrofoil wing that lifts the board above the surface for silent, almost floating flight. Different sport, different sensation. Most superyacht water-toy programmes we fit out carry one of each — a RÄVIK Adventure for carving and chasing at 45–50 km/h, a VINGA for quiet flat-water flight. Both are Swedish-built by Awake, which keeps spares and service in a single supply chain.
What is the real-world battery life and range?
Awake publishes "up to 45 minutes" of ride time from the Flex XR4 (2.55 kWh) pack at 11 kW peak. On a full-throttle session with a heavier rider you should plan closer to 30 minutes; relaxed cruising gets you near the top of that window. The pack weighs 18.5 kg and swaps without tools, so for charter-season use we recommend at least two spare batteries to keep a rotation moving. Mercer Yachting supplies the charger and additional packs as part of the quote.
Is the RÄVIK Adventure safe for a first-time rider?
The Adventure sits between the beginner-focused Explore and the flagship Ultimate. It carries enough volume (71 L, V-shape hull) for most adults to stand up on their first session, and the Flex Hand Controller 4 throttle is progressive rather than binary — a new rider can ease in at low power. For charter use we still recommend a one-hour crew-led handover before guests ride, plus impact vest and helmet on every session. Awake's own positioning is "elegant, adaptable, dynamic" — the board accommodates learners, but it is not a pool toy.
Can I use the RÄVIK Adventure in Malta?
Yes. Electric jetboards are legal for recreational use in Maltese waters, subject to normal rules on distance from swimmers, bathing zones, and port entrances. Transport Malta's bathing-area restrictions apply, and we recommend operating from a yacht at anchor rather than launching from public beaches. Mercer Yachting's Malta base in Marsaskala can handle delivery, crew handover, and spare-battery support locally — and for Malta-flagged vessels we coordinate the import paperwork through our Malta Desk.
What is Awake's warranty on the RÄVIK Adventure?
Awake covers the RÄVIK Adventure with a two-year warranty through its authorised dealer network. Mercer Yachting is an authorised supplier, which means warranty claims, spare parts, and firmware updates come directly through the Awake channel rather than a grey-market route. Units supplied outside the authorised network often have no European warranty support at all — always confirm the supply route before buying.
Can I pair the RÄVIK Adventure with an eFoil on the same yacht?
Yes — and for any yacht running a serious water-toy programme we recommend it. The RÄVIK Adventure covers surface jetboarding (jet drive, no foil). An Awake VINGA eFoil covers hydrofoil flight (silent, above the surface). Between them you cover every rider skill level and every mood, from "I want to go fast and carve" to "I want something quiet and effortless". Sharing a single Swedish manufacturer simplifies spares, service, and crew familiarity.
Does the RÄVIK Adventure need wax like a traditional surfboard?
No. The RÄVIK is a surface-riding jetboard with factory-fitted foot straps and a textured deck — riders stand in the straps rather than freely on wax. That is one of the practical advantages of a jetboard over a traditional tow-in surfboard for charter use: no wax to apply, no wax to strip off the deck before it sits back in a yacht's air-conditioned toy garage. Rinse with fresh water after every session and the composite hull is ready for the next guest.
