Frequently Asked Questions
How is the RÄVIK Explore different from the RÄVIK Adventure?
The Explore and the Adventure share the same 11 kW powertrain, but they are tuned for different riders. The Explore has a 121 L Dual Channel hull, a 40 kph top speed, and up to 60 minutes of ride time — Awake positions it as the beginner-friendly board with "unmatched stability." The Adventure has a smaller 71 L V-shape hull, a higher 50 kph top speed, and up to 45 minutes of ride time, described by Awake as "expedition-grade" for experienced riders wanting noticeable performance over earlier RÄVIK generations.
How is the Explore different from the RÄVIK Ultimate?
The Ultimate is Awake's top-performance jetboard: a 51 L Dual Channel hull, 55 kph top speed, 16 kg board weight, and up to 35 minutes of ride time — described by Awake as the "pinnacle of jetboard performance" with "razor-sharp agility." The Explore prioritises the opposite: stability under the feet (121 L vs 51 L), longer sessions (60 vs 35 minutes), and a more forgiving 40 kph top end. Most superyachts running a mixed guest profile buy the Explore as the first board and add an Ultimate for performance-focused riders.
What does the Explore feel like to ride?
With a 121 L Dual Channel hull and a 40 kph ceiling, the Explore feels planted, predictable, and confidence-building. Awake describes it as "intuitive" with "minimal learning time" and states that "no instructor needed, minimal supervision required." Riders tend to be standing and cruising within one or two sessions, and the long ride time lets them keep practising instead of sitting on a charger.
How does a jetboard differ from an eFoil like the VINGA?
A jetboard — including the entire RÄVIK range — rides directly on the water's surface, propelled by an electric water-jet. An eFoil (VINGA) uses a hydrofoil that lifts the board above the water, creating a silent flying sensation. Jetboards are typically faster at the top end and more intuitive for riders coming from surfing, wakeboarding, or skateboarding. eFoils have a steeper learning curve but deliver a very different sensation and typically run longer on a single charge. The Explore is a jetboard.
How long does the battery last and what's included?
The RÄVIK Explore runs on Awake's Flex XR battery system with up to 60 minutes of ride time per pack — the longest ride time in the current RÄVIK lineup. A complete package from Awake includes the board, Flex battery, Flex Hand Controller, charger, fins, foot straps, and board bag. Spare Flex battery packs can be added, which is the standard way superyachts achieve continuous afternoon guest rotations.
Do you deliver the RÄVIK Explore to Malta and the Mediterranean?
Yes. Mercer Yachting is based in Marsaskala, Malta and delivers the Awake RÄVIK Explore directly to yachts berthed at Grand Harbour, Valletta, Vittoriosa, Portomaso, and Mġarr Marina — as well as to every major Mediterranean yachting hub: Antibes, Palma de Mallorca, Monaco, Genoa, Athens, and Split. Worldwide freight is available by air or sea to any nominated port or agent.
What warranty does the Awake RÄVIK Explore come with?
Awake ships the RÄVIK Explore with a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering the board, motor, and drivetrain. Mercer Yachting handles warranty registration, any subsequent claims, and coordination with Awake's Swedish service centre on behalf of the yacht.
Is the RÄVIK Explore genuinely beginner-safe?
Awake's own positioning for the RÄVIK Explore is "the beginner friendly electric surfboard" with "unmatched stability," "minimal learning time," and "no instructor needed, minimal supervision required." The 121 L volume, Dual Channel hull, and 40 kph top speed make it the most approachable board Awake currently produces. For charter programmes, we still recommend that crew deliver a brief safety briefing and helmet/impact-vest protocol before every guest session.
