Workshops & Businesses
For use in workshops, offices and commercial premises, in well-ventilated rooms with the door fully closed and locked, per the datasheet. Separately, if you are charging aboard a yacht: MGN 681 Amendment 1 Section 4.12 addresses charging outside the garaging space and says the cabinet should be suitably secured and supervised at all times. That guidance is for yachts, not workshops.
How the Safety System Works
The RACLAN Box uses a five-stage automated response to detect, contain, and suppress lithium battery thermal runaway events.
Monitor
Electronic sensors continuously monitor battery temperature and charge status throughout every cycle.
Detect
The bundled RACLAN Box datasheet and TUV report 8120433469-10rev2 do not state a trigger threshold for this box, and in that test the extinguishing sequence was triggered manually rather than automatically. We are asking the manufacturer to confirm the automatic trigger behaviour and will publish it here.
Alarm & Isolate
80 dB acoustic and visual alarms activate. Charging power is automatically cut to prevent further energy input.
Suppress
The integrated TRIDENT® extinguishing agent floods the interior to cool the cells and help limit fire propagation.
Filter & Vent
Toxic gases (hydrogen fluoride, HF) are filtered through the exhaust system. External surface temperature stayed below 100°C in TUV test 8120433469-10rev2 (tested specimen, 877 Wh maximum single battery capacity).

The RACLAN Box is designed for indoor use only. Its integrated exhaust system with toxin filtration (hydrogen fluoride, HF) filters the gases vented during a thermal runaway event. TUV test report 8120433469-10rev2 recorded brief smoke emission from the flap edge gap during venting, so the box reduces rather than eliminates emission into the surrounding space. Is the RACLAN Box approved for road transport?
Our bundled documents do not establish that. It is also shipped with its own internal 51.2 Wh battery declared under UN3481; the bundled transport declaration covers the product as shipped, not customer batteries carried inside it. Always declare battery contents to your transport provider and provide supporting certification documentation.
Can I charge multiple batteries at once?
Yes. The RACLAN Box supports multiple charger connections, allowing several batteries to be charged simultaneously inside the safety enclosure while under active electronic monitoring. Ensure total battery capacity does not exceed 1.75 kWh. Ensure total battery capacity does not exceed 1.75 kWh.
What happens if thermal runaway occurs inside the RACLAN Box?
If thermal runaway is detected, the RACLAN Box automatically activates acoustic and visual alarms, cuts charging power, and deploys the TRIDENT® extinguishing agent to flood the interior and suppress the fire. The integrated exhaust system filters toxic gases (hydrogen fluoride, HF) before venting. In TUV test 8120433469-10rev2 (tested specimen, 877 Wh maximum single battery capacity) the recorded external surface temperature stayed below 100°C; that is a test result, not a guaranteed outcome for every battery or event. The box should not be re-used until inspected and refilled by a qualified technician.
