Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Fliteboard Air best suited for?
Fliteboard positions the Air for beginner to intermediate riders, family use, and guest sharing on charter. The AIR ICON in particular — at 5'8″ and 110 L — is the most forgiving board in the range and the natural choice for first-time foilers. The smaller AIR PRO at 5'2″ / 80 L is for riders who already have some eFoil or board-sports experience and want a more responsive inflatable. Advanced riders chasing freestyle, wave or carving sessions are better served by the carbon Fliteboard PRO Series 6 or ULTRA L3.
Fliteboard Air vs Pro Series 6 — which one should we order?
If your priority is first-time guests, family rides, charter sessions, and a board that stows away when not in use, choose the Fliteboard Air (AIR ICON for absolute beginners, AIR PRO for confident riders). If your priority is a single dedicated rider who already foils, wants freestyle or wave performance, and is comfortable with a short, low-volume carbon board, choose the Pro Series 6. Many superyacht programmes carry both: the Air for guest induction sessions and the Pro for the one rider on board who knows what they are doing.
How does the inflatable construction actually ride?
Fliteboard describes the Air as a "rigid inflatable" with "revolutionary inflatable construction" engineered for ultimate durability. Once inflated, the board rides as a rigid foil platform — not a soft surfboard — while the inflatable build protects against the chips, dings and dents that plague hard-top boards in busy charter use. The brand specifically calls it out as a "must-have for trips and boat or dock launches" for that reason.
How is the Air stored and transported?
Fliteboard lists "easy transport & storage" as a headline benefit of the Air range, in contrast to the hard-top Series 6 boards. That makes the Air the natural choice when locker space on the yacht is at a premium, when a board needs to be moved between cruising grounds during the season, or when the toy programme calls for a board that can come off the yacht for a day on the beach. The Flite Jet 2 motor and Flitecell battery are stored separately from the board, and they are the same hardware as on the hard-top Series 6 range.
Which Flitecell battery should we order, and how many?
For most superyacht programmes running the Air, we recommend at least one Flitecell Sport (1.6 kWh, 10.6 kg, up to 1.5 h) as the daily driver, plus one Flitecell Explore (2.1 kWh, 14.5 kg, up to 2.5 h) for longer cruises. The Flitecell Nano (806 Wh, 6.2 kg, up to 45 min) is useful as a lightweight third pack for short guest sessions where weight matters. All three Flitecells are cross-compatible across the Series 6 range, so a yacht running both an Air and a Pro Series 6 can share the same battery pool rather than stocking two parallel sets.
Is the Air good for charter use?
Yes. The combination of inflatable durability, beginner-friendly volume (especially the AIR ICON), packable storage and shared Series 6 battery compatibility makes the Air the strongest charter-fit eFoil in the Fliteboard range. Crews can let first-time guests ride it without worrying about cosmetic damage to a carbon board, and the Air can be stowed below deck between charter weeks rather than occupying premium garage space.
Can you deliver to Malta and other Mediterranean ports?
Yes. Mercer Yachting is based in Marsaskala, Malta and ships the Fliteboard Air to every major Mediterranean yacht hub — Antibes, Palma de Mallorca, Monaco, Genoa, Athens, and Split — with worldwide air or sea freight to any nominated port or agent. Typical Mediterranean delivery is 5–10 business days once the variant (ICON or PRO), Flitecell pack matrix and wing configuration are confirmed. Rush options are available for charter-season emergencies.
