Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Fliteboard PRO best suited for?
Fliteboard positions the PRO for intermediate to advanced riders and for those with previous boardsports experience — surfers, wakeboarders, kitesurfers, and snowboarders transitioning onto a foil. At 5'0″ and 67 L it is short and agile rather than forgiving, so it rewards riders who can shift weight cleanly and punishes beginners. Guests still learning to foil are much better served by the Fliteboard AIR.
How does the PRO compare to the AIR and the ULTRA L3?
The AIR is an inflatable, higher-volume board aimed at beginners and intermediates, and the AIR PRO variant measures 5'2″ at 80 L. The ULTRA L3 is the opposite end of the range — a 4'4″, 49 L carbon surf-foil board for advanced wave riders. The PRO slots between them at 5'0″ / 67 L, so it is the most versatile choice when one serious rider on a charter wants a dedicated performance foil without going to the fully specialised ULTRA.
Is the PRO safe for guests who have never foiled before?
It is not the right board to learn on. The PRO's agility comes from its short length and moderate volume, which means it demands balance and boardsports fundamentals from the first minute. For guest programmes that include first-time foilers, we recommend pairing the PRO with a Fliteboard AIR and briefing crew to steer beginners onto the AIR for their induction sessions. Once a guest is stable and confident, moving them onto the PRO is straightforward.
Which battery should we order, and how many?
For most superyacht programmes we recommend one Flitecell Sport (1.6 kWh, 10.6 kg, up to 1.5 h) as the daily-driver pack, one Flitecell Explore (2.1 kWh, 14.5 kg, up to 2.5 h) for long cruises, and optionally one Flitecell Nano (806 Wh, 6.2 kg, up to 45 min) for the lightest freestyle rides. All three Flitecells are cross-compatible across the Series 6 range, so a yacht running both a PRO and an AIR can share the same battery pool rather than stocking separate packs.
What servicing does the Fliteboard PRO need?
Standard Fliteboard service intervals cover Flite Jet 2 motor inspection, mast and wing bolt checks, battery health logs, and firmware updates on the controller. Mercer Yachting can coordinate this with Fliteboard's authorised network during refits in Malta, Italy, France, Spain and Greece, and can schedule a service window to align with the yacht's normal maintenance days rather than taking the board out mid-season.
Can you deliver to Malta and Mediterranean hubs?
Yes. Mercer Yachting is based in Marsaskala, Malta and ships the Fliteboard PRO to every major Mediterranean yacht hub — Antibes, Palma de Mallorca, Monaco, Genoa, Athens, and Split — with worldwide air or sea freight to any nominated port or agent. Typical Mediterranean delivery is 5–10 business days once the Flitecell and wing configuration are confirmed. Rush options are available for charter-season emergencies.
How does the PRO pair with other toys on a yacht's programme?
The PRO works well alongside a Fliteboard AIR (for learning and casual guests), a jet surfboard such as a JetSurf or a Lampuga, and classic towables for group entertainment. The modular Flitecell pool lets the crew rotate one rider on the PRO, another on the AIR, and still have spare packs on charge. Pairing with a Searaft or NautiBuoy inflatable dock also gives riders a stable launch and recovery platform when the yacht is at anchor.
What warranty and after-sales support comes with the board?
Every Fliteboard PRO supplied by Mercer Yachting ships with the current Fliteboard factory warranty and full manufacturer documentation. Contact Mercer Yachting for the current warranty terms, registration instructions, and the schedule for Fliteboard firmware and service updates — we can also organise crew training as part of the handover so the yacht is self-sufficient for daily use.
