Fliteboard eFoil for Superyachts: Sales and Service from Malta

What Is Fliteboard?

Fliteboard is an electric hydrofoil board. A carbon fibre mast extends below the board with a wing at the bottom, and a near-silent electric motor propels the rider above the water's surface at speeds up to 45 km/h. The sensation is closer to flying than surfing.

Founded in Australia in 2018, Fliteboard has become the dominant eFoil brand in the superyacht market. The build quality is exceptional: full carbon fibre construction, precision-machined components, and a Bluetooth hand controller that lets riders adjust speed with their thumb. Batteries provide 60-90 minutes of ride time depending on conditions.

For superyacht guests, eFoiling has become one of the most requested activities. It's quiet (no engine noise disturbing other guests or neighbours), it works in flat water (no waves or boat wake needed), and it's visually spectacular. Charter brokers report that yachts with eFoils onboard consistently receive higher guest satisfaction scores.

Authorised Service Centre in Malta

Mercer Yachting is an authorised Fliteboard service centre based in Malta. This means we're certified by Fliteboard to sell new units, process warranty claims, and carry out repairs and servicing to manufacturer standards.

For yachts cruising the Mediterranean, having a service centre in Malta is practical. If a board develops a fault in Sardinia, Sicily, or anywhere in the central Med, we can arrange collection, repair it at our facility in Marsaskala, and have it back on board within 5-7 working days. For yachts in Maltese waters, we offer same-day quayside service.

Service Coverage

We handle warranty repairs, out-of-warranty servicing, battery replacements, motor rebuilds, mast and wing inspections, controller diagnostics, and firmware updates. Spare parts are stocked locally for the most common service items.

Models Available

Fliteboard PRO

The full-size performance board at 180 cm. The PRO is designed for experienced riders who want maximum stability and speed in a range of conditions. Its larger surface area makes it easier to stand up on before foiling, which helps in choppy water. This is the board for guests who've foiled before and want the best possible ride.

Weight: approximately 30 kg with battery. Top speed: 45 km/h. Battery life: 60-90 minutes. Available in multiple colour configurations to match vessel livery.

Fliteboard AIR

The 150 cm mid-range model and the most popular choice for superyacht programmes. At under 25 kg fully assembled, the AIR is light enough for a single crew member to launch from the swim platform. Its shorter length makes it more responsive than the PRO, and the learning curve is gentler for first-time foilers.

Most yachts we supply choose the AIR as their primary board. It handles the widest range of rider sizes and skill levels. We typically recommend two AIR boards for yachts over 50m, with spare batteries for each.

Fliteboard ULTRA

The compact 130 cm board built for advanced riders. The ULTRA is highly manoeuvrable and responsive, making it the choice for experienced foilers who want to carve tight turns and ride aggressively. It's also the easiest to stow, fitting into spaces where a PRO or AIR won't.

The ULTRA is popular with crew members who foil regularly and want maximum performance. For guest programmes, it works best when paired with an AIR so beginners and advanced riders both have the right board.

Model Length Weight Top Speed Battery Life Best For
PRO 180 cm ~30 kg 45 km/h 60-90 min Experienced riders, rough water
AIR 150 cm ~25 kg 45 km/h 60-90 min Guest programmes, all-round
ULTRA 130 cm ~22 kg 45 km/h 60-90 min Advanced riders, compact stowage

Service and Repairs

eFoils operate in salt water with high-voltage lithium batteries. Regular servicing isn't optional; it's essential for safety and longevity. Here's what our service programme covers:

  • Battery health checks: capacity testing, cell balancing verification, and connector inspection. We recommend this every 6 months or 100 charge cycles.
  • Motor servicing: bearing inspection, seal replacement, and impeller checks. Salt water intrusion is the number one cause of motor failure.
  • Mast and wing inspection: carbon fibre integrity check, bolt torque verification, and bearing replacement if needed.
  • Controller diagnostics: Bluetooth pairing, throttle calibration, and firmware updates to the latest version.
  • Cosmetic repairs: board refinishing, non-slip pad replacement, and minor impact damage repair.

For warranty work, we handle the entire claim process with Fliteboard directly. Out-of-warranty repairs are quoted individually. Turnaround time for most service items is 3-5 working days at our Malta facility.

Mediterranean Delivery

We ship new Fliteboards and serviced units across the Mediterranean. Delivery within Malta is same-day or next-day. For other Mediterranean ports, standard freight takes 3-7 days depending on location. Urgent deliveries can be arranged via air freight for time-critical situations.

Each board ships in Fliteboard's custom flight case, which doubles as long-term storage protection onboard. We include all accessories: charger, hand controller, mast, wing, and tool kit.
